Eclectic Relaxation (vol. 1)

Greetings from vacation and happy...umm...weird first week without the Mixtape on your radio.

For me, this week has been...quiet. Which is good, but also brings about this need to fill the noise void. And so I present to you my first of a regular series of exclusive mixes: "Eclectic Relaxation" (loosely named after my favourite A Tribe Called Quest song...which is ironic, seeing as I didn't think to include any ATCQ in this mix, haha!).

I plan on releasing volumes of this particular series, which is simply a collection of tunes I've recently been bumping in my spare time. Enjoy!

Among some of the notable additions of this particular volume:

• EZ Mil This Filipino-American rapper has had a HUGE year, recently signing a joint deal with Shady Records, Aftermath Entertainment and Interscope Records (he's the third rapper after 50 Cent and Stat Quo to accomplish such a feat...not to mention the first Filipino artist to do so). His latest album, DU4LI7Y: REDUX, contains the track he did with Eminem called "Realest" (where Em's verse is a response to his beef with Melle Mel of the Furious Five).

• Kimmortal And I, of course, had to mix that EZ Mil track with another Filipino hip hop artist for whom I have a lot of love and respect, Kimmortal! Keep an eye out for this artist from Vancouver. She's doing big things with her music and is definitely going far.

• You'll notice a few tracks from the soundtrack to "Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse"...well, that's because I have two kids who I seem to have raised to become bigger Spider-Man fans than I ever was AND the soundtrack, produced by Metro Boomin is definitely, IMHO, the best soundtrack of 2023.
